Does a 88-91 turboII engine drop into a 87
no, not worth it. try to find an 87-88 engine.
everything off the 87 engine would have to be swaped onto the 89 one. (manifolds, injectors, front cover, OMP ect) and everything on the 87 car would still be used. the AFM, boost sensor etc.

????
If your talking about dropping a 89+ TII motor in an 87 TII you will be fine. No problem at all as far as installation. The thing is you will have to use premix in your gas (which I recommend to everyone) to lubricate the apex seals inside the motor. I have an 88 with a 91 motor pushin 319 rwhp and still runnin strong.
you have to swap front cover, intake manifold & TB, water pump, i think thats it. its been a while since i did my swap. my 89+ jspec runs fine, and i dont have to premix since i swapped the front cover for the mech. OMP. if you can find a good wiring harness and ECU for the 89+ T2 it would drop right in youd just have to run the new harness & ECU. itd be easier id think, but more expensive.
