I have a 87 rx-7 and only my leading coil fires, is the trailing suppost to fire also or does it only fire like the injectors?

 

Both are suppossed to fire.

If the tach works then the trailing coils are probably also working.

It very very rare to have a coil fail on a Mazda, the majority of the time if one really is not functioning it is because the coil or coil pack is not grounded correctly (I/E bolted down to the car).

 

Or you manage to short it out via stupidiy....
