Do S5 blinkers work on S4 rx7s?

I have an 87 Turbo II, I bought a set of clear S5 Blinkers. I noticed that the S4 uses three wires (dual Filament bulb) and the S5 uses a two wires (Single Filament) . My question is: Can (How Do) I wire it up to use both the blinker and running light function?

Well I would have to tear out the old socket to find out... I kinda want some more insight before doing that.

Can not use S5 front turn signals on a S4 and same the other way around. You would have to switch front bumpers to use the those turn signals.

I can tell you the sockets themselves interchange into the body harness, but regardless you cant use them

If you got the S5 front bumper then the S5 lights will install/ plug in no problem. As for getting them to work as blinkers/ running lights cant you just turn on the parking lights? (The position on the headlight switch before the headlights are on)

Plug in no problem? Well the S4 plug is a three wire... and the S5 is a two.... unless you mean I should pull out the socket from the S4 light housing and insert it into the S5 Light housing.

On my S4 i used s4 turn signal assembly for awhile. Then i got a aftermarket front bumper that needed s5 turn signal assembly. They plugged into the same spot my s4's did, if i recall correctly. I know for a fact i didnt have to tamper with anything.

If you have an S4 turn signal switch then you would want to mate it with an S4 wiring harness.

I purchased these S5 blinkers from Japan... could this be why they just don't plug in?

^^possible but i do not know. Maybe some better experts can chimmie in.

On my s4 the s5 lights mated by me just plugging them in. I did not have to alter anything. Show us pictures of the s4 & s5 turn signals and the connection on the harness that they plug into. Maybe im missing something or im just lucky but everything worked fine for me.

I have Original S4 blinkers and my new S5 blinkers and the connectors are different. S4 is a three wire and the S5 is a two wire.

If the S4 plug that you currently have on your car fits the new lenses that you recently aquired then you have nothing to worry about. Again, if the plug fits then there is no extra adaptation necessary. Remember, the lenses you have are just a plastic housing and they much not care how many wires are running to it or not as the only relevant issue is if the S4 plug is a proper fit or not.

You should be able to use them interchangeably and the connectors should be the same. I rode around with a S4 turn signal just put in my S5 bumper to pass inspection just fine.

If the connector isn't matching up it could be the j-spec issue. On the usdm ones that I had the red and green wires served to operate the light and the black wire was a ground that just touched the light assembly. Not sure what your connectors look like but if you want to strip wires you can just mate the red and green wires together and switch what type of connector you have that does match. I would be careful what you do though and see how the two wire j-spec turn signals ground if the third wire missing is the black one.

just taking a shot in the dark- is the connector a single connector or is there another one coming off it?
wondering if it has anything to do with the jspec flash to pass

I also went from s4-s5, and even went from s5-s4, everything was plug and play

The connectors do not... as for the sockets....
I don't know I don't want to pull them out and ruin the blinkers
