I'm tired of searching - can somebody tell me how hard it is to do this, and what I need?

 

yup, you need the compressor, you can rent it from autozone. besides that its a piece o cake

 

You can buy a simple spring compressor, I would recommend definitely renting one if you don't want to buy one. I'd recommend using one...

 

if you dont use one the spring can take your head off.

 

Spring is the least of your worries. The real problem is going to be the nut that holds the keeper down. You don't "need" a spring compressor...me and a buddy did a set withough any problem...but a compressor would have been nice.

I thought FC's had shocks on the rear and struts up front...:condused:

 

No, there are struts in rear, but do you have any recommendations for that nut you refer to?

 

I was also under this assumption, as I could swear that what I just put in the rear were shocks, and what I put in the front were struts.

 

Use a compressor definately! I have heard of people loosing arms/legs or being killed by the violent decompression of car springs. It isn't a little wimpy spring you know it holds your car which weighs over a ton. Be carefull!

 

Yeah I forgot that part. Springs and struts aren't something to **** around with.

 

I use an impact for removal. Makes life easier. Do not use it for install.

 

You might want to rent an electric impact wrench to remove & re-install the top NUT. Otherwise take the old & new struts & springs down to big10tire (or comperable) and have them do it for you.
