I was in the middle of changing vacume hoses to silicone ones and came upon what looked like some sort of an in line filter green and white, looks ike a float for fishing... Anyway I broke one, Do i need these or can i just bypass and toss them in the closet of parts i have? Oh, and is it a filter or what?

I believe that it is the stock boost sensor filter. I had them on my Project 86 but I just took them off and plumbed the vacuum lines regular and have nad no ill effects. I do have the A'PEXi filters though inline at other places, so I don't know.

Was this little gizmo in a line around your cluster of solenoid valves? If it was, it is most likely a check valve, and is needed to hold vacuum when the engine vacuum goes away. My advice? Replace it, that way you won't end up with strange problems (as an example, in an 87-88 TII, you'd get a sudden increase in turbo lag).
