I'm scraping the old gasket off the lower to upper intake. Even with gasket remover its still a PIA.

I'm useing a rasior ... would maybe some light sand paper work better?

YES! If you don't, the new gasket won't set right, and you will have an intake leak. Just keep usin that razor, and don't cut off any fingers!!

Buy some gasket remover spray, it dissolves the gasket.

Its not so much that I'm lazy. My car hasn't been running for 3 months and I now I have all the parts to put it back together. I just wanted to see if it was necessary to get it all off. I just picked up some gasket sealer and that is why I was asking. Thinking that the sealer would prevent any intake leaks if the old gasket wasn't 100% off.

Get one of those adapters that lets you attach the razor to a screw driver. It makes things alot easier. They are kinda like the sticker scraper they use to get your inspection stickers off. Most hardware stores will have them for like $2.

Its coming along a lot faster now.
