Do I have the right rack?

I bought what I thought was a manual steering rack for my S5 TII to replace the power one. The new one doesn't quite look like it's the same shape as the old one, but the person I bought it from said it is the right one. Anyone who has done this conversion or knows anything about it know if this is the right one?

Well, I don't know about your rack, but the rear end in your avatar looks right.

The bracket and bushing on passenger side are different. Everything else is the same to my knowledge.

It is because the PS rack is a little bit bigger than the manual one (diameter wise) on the right side.

When you go to junk yard, make sure you get the brackets + bushings with it. That will save you a lot of trouble.

Anyone know where to get a manual rack? None of the j-yards close to me have any rx-7s, and I don't feel like going to Houston to a Pick and Pull...

I have factory manual steering on my '87 TII. You can also get a pretty cheap rebuilt rack from mazdasurplus.com . Just remember to add the $50.00 service charge to the price you see on their web site.
