Question Do all 7's have amps in the rear speaker housings?

damn, pain in the *** to have to bypass those, but while my turbo is in surgery I am installing music that is louder than my exhaust.

hard to do, trust me ... requires multiple amps

You know some Luxury coupes probably have the amps in the rear speakers as well.

The various stereo wiring diagrams are in the FSM body electrical section.

Probably not a base model then. Probably a Luxury coupe.

The S4 base model, the Luxury coupe, and the SE all came with 4 lug wheels. Many people think they have a base when they really have a Luxury coupe.

Couple of questions here;

Looking through the wiring diagram I am seeing that all 88 model 7’s have a 6 speaker setup? It shows 2 rear, 2 front, and either 2 headrest, or 2 door speakers? What’s up with that? My car has neither 2 door, or headrest speakers.. just 2 rear, and 2 up under the dash.

Okay next, I attacked a pic, is this the location of the front speaker amp? What is the easiest way to bypass it? I bypassed the rear amps already; just do the front in a similar way? And please don’t tell me to run new wires, because that’s just not going to fly.

I have the ole antennae problem also .. But I will do a search and figure that one out.

Thanks,

Robert

Another try to attach a F-in pic.

P.S. the question is; is the circled object the front amp?

Only some verts have the all the speakers like that.

Remember there are like 6 or 7 different systems stock.

That picture is the front dash speaker amp location on most of the 86-88 coupe models.

To bypass it, simply jumper the wires from the radio, to the wires going to the speakers. Unless you are running more than 50 watts a channel the stock wiring is more than heavy enough to work fine.

Well, it's all done, PITA with those little amps all over. I ended up rewiring the front ones, added a sub, and changed the rear speakers to a couple 6.5" 3Way Lanzars. With a fosgate 350W amp for the Sub. Keps the same stock speks in the front and just adjusted my X-over acordingly. after re-wiring them.

here is a pic of the deck install very clean if I do say so myself .. I might pull that little bin below the deck, and see about a permanent mout for my S-AFc there. That will be this weeks project I think, while I wait on my turbo to get out of surgery.

GXL's and TII's? that isn't true, My standard 87 N/A had amps all the way around and i don't think it's luxury coupe because i don't have any power options except for mirrors. So what's luxury about that!?

If your driving in a hail storm, and you need to adjust your outside mirrors, you will then know that's a luxury

P.S I will post more pictures when I get home, but i mounted my S-AFc below the stereo .. looks damn good if I do say so myself.

I do have 4 lug wheels though, and Robert your deck install looks good. Judging by the pic i'd say you did that yourself. Just curious what kind of deck is that and does it have good equilizer options and how much did you pay?

hey now, I did do that myself, but no way you could tell

It's a Alpine CDA 78XX MP3, CD Changer contol, remote, Built in EQ, distance compenstor, 3 4V pre outs, sub control, multimode crossover, and MX options with Satilite radio feed also. Kick *** deck. In the ~$400 range.

I have owned just about every deck on the market, I like alpines and Eclipse the best.

and hey, the best part (you can't tell in that picture) but when it lights up you can select from a couple of different colors.. Including ORANGE! It matches all the stock inside lighting

Yea I have a Kenwood and i just don't like it that much but i'm trying to save up for a Carbon Fiber hood but i was just wondering. I don't really make that much money so $400 dollars will take some saving up plus i doubt i would spend that much money on the Deck. I have 2 10" Kicker L7's and they don't hit as hard as i thought they would and i think it may have something to do with the deck, I have a 600 watt kicker amp running to them so it should be hittin better.
