DIY tranny mounts?

I know someone on here said they made some motor mounts with material they got from Mcmaster-Carr. Has anyone made tranny mounts from raw materials yet? I'd like to put some stiff mounts in, but would rather not pay the awful prices for them as opposed to what the materials would cost. Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the stock mounts on an NA S5, and the appropriate hardness of them between stock and competition?

I have heard of people using windshield caulk, the black stuff. Like making a mold and then chaulking it in there, it gets really hard and sounds like a good plan.

Actually there are a couple 400HP+ TII's running Wooden mounts.

LIGNUM VITAE is a hardwood used for bearings in certain applications. Don't laugh
