ditch my 7? rebuild? or JDM motor...
So here's the story...
so i bought my motor back in novemberish of last year, its an s5 t2 with 60k on the motor... i was chillen at yoshiya's shop today and decided to go to 7-11, was on the way there, and the engine made a funky noise, and the engine was acting up alot ... so i drove it back to the shop, and we found a vacuum leak, but then decided to do a compression test... i was a bit hesitant, but yoshiya decided to just get it over with... and the results... i got 5.7 in the front, and rear was so low that it couldnt even read the compression...
the past....
Got the motor and did a compression test with a shitty piston compression tester, got 60 in the front, and 30 in the back, but i figured it was the compression tester, and figured it ran without smoke so i figured it was fine...
so the question...
should i just sell the whole thing, as is... get some money instead of spend more money... pay to get it rebuilt... or just find a JDM motor with good compression...?

how does the rest of the car look?
as most people will tell you JDM motors are really a hit and miss item. I say rebuild, then you are garunteed a solid motor and you will be happy you did.

the motor doesnt run that bad... my friend has an s4 and it dint seem that much different in the lower rpms... but now that u mention it, it does seem kinda slow even at boost, but sometimes its rediculously fast... iono...
the car has s5 full conversion, with s4 sport wing... GP sports kit, and Racing beat Full turbo back exhaust... hks ssqv bov... sport max 962's 18x7.5, 9.5... hks hypermax D coilovers... short shifter... iono and some other little things like a clifford remote start and such...

i think you should rebuild yea its going to cost you some money but in the long run its worth it and i see your in anaheim i know a good shop that built mine for a good deal and i had to replace some things so i know it will be cheaper for you.......but if you have to sell it then do that and just save up and buy another one but in the long run its better if you rebuild it

You know, it is a bizarre phenomenon that has been experienced but many people on this forum. Many people have reported that their engines pulled harder than usual and ran awesome right before they blow a seal or something. If I were you I'd get it rebuilt. Hell, I'm putting in a fresh engine just because mine is 90psi(front) 70psi(rear). I'd rather get it done now than have it let go and take my turbo with it!

If its an S5 T2 with really only 60k, you might as well tear it apart and see whats up with everything. You said sometimes it feels slow and sometimes it feels fast, could just be something stupid. S5 engines are slightly better than s4 in many ways, so if wear on everything isn't to bad then keep it and rebuild. Take your time and measure everything more than once, dont for get to clean the ever lasting hell out of everything. You should possibly consider getting your turbo rebuilt so you wont have to do it in the future. Stock turbo rebuilt kits are on the cheap side so i hear. Good luck and have fun with it. - Nick
