Distance between hub and shock?

Can anybody tell me what is a 'safe' distance between the inside of the hub and the shock? I just put a new rim on that was off of a mazda 6 (black ugly steel one) and its not rubbing or anything but if you put ur fingers back there it feels very close. Just wondering if I might need spacers or how to even know if I do need spacers? Any help woould be apreciated.

thanks

matt

i put a set of Mazda 6 wheels on my car and they looked horrible. the offset was horribly off. they're typical fwd wheels i guess. do you not have a horribly hideous gap that just screams "these wheels dont go on this car!" ??

lol u kno wat i dont give a **** wat they look like honestly. Ive had my car for like 4 months and ive driven it for about a week. I just want to be able to drive my damn car again. Seems like no place in the world has rims that fit my car for some odd reason? I went to canadian tire (i tire place in canada) that supposably carries everything. They dont got 5 bolt rims that will fit my 16 inch tires... the mazda dealership doesnt even got them they are the ones that gave me mazda 6 rims. Anyone know where I can find some steel **** rims that will fit?

hrmm, just look for used T2 wheels. also, mustang wheels apparently fit well. the mazda 6 wheels i used would have been okay, but the offset was real bad.
i know how it is without a car. i went from feb 1st to september with no car; 7 months. hell, i bought the car with a bad tranny and didnt drive it for a couple weeks. i know it sucks.
so yea, look for T2 wheels and mustang wheels. also, i believe 240sx wheels may work and 300zx. i'd do research before you buy cause i'm not 100% sure on those.

casio, would it be alright if I used these mazda 6 rims. Even though they are ugly as hell, im not willing to spend much money on my snow tire rims anyways and I can pick these ones up for 25$ canadian per wheel. By alright i mean would I have any rubbing issues if I didnt use spacers?

thanks for the help

i really dont know. i didnt even drive with them on. my friend worked at a place that had 10+ Mazda 6s donated to them to use for a driving school. we were bored and slapped the 6 wheels on my car for fun. i never bothered checking the spacing. the ones we used were the 5 spoke wheel. spacers would be more expensive than buying used wheels, i bet.
sorry, i'm from texas. wheels to use when it snows its foreign to me. i doubt i've seen 6 inches of snow in the last 12+ years.
$25 canadian is very cheap for a wheel, but i cant tell you how well they would work. sorry to waste your time with nonsense. but hey, i've kept the topic bumped for ya.

lol no man thanks... i just went outside and turned the wheels side to side and when its turned all the way to one side the tire is right up against the shock. So it definately wont work. The offset is definately off. It took me 8 months to find a TII that was for sale here thats how rare they are in canada... so i think it will be quiet hard to come across used TII rims. I guess I'll have to go with the mustang rims. **** why is it so hard to find damn steel rims for an rx7 lol

matt
thanks

ebay. its not that expensive to send wheels through customs, is it? i've seen T2 wheels on there before. i was owed a pair from a chassis i helped someone get, but i never got a chance to go get the wheels. i wonder if the guy still has them. i'd sell them for cheap, but i'm a long ways away from you. besides, i want the T2 wheels. i'd sell my convertible wheels, though.
