Direct plug-in SAFC install?

Mine looks just like that one from ebay, minus the extra cord. I asked the pervious owner (its slightly used) and he said that he plugged it directly into a port under the dash of his FC. 1300cc.com and other how-to sites all use the cut and slpice install. Was this guy just bogus, or is there a port i can just plug it into?

Yes, that's how mine looked when I got it. The harness coming off the safc plugs into the other separate plug and then the wires coming off of that plug get spliced into the ecu wires.

on the other hand, you could make yourself up a little wiring harness that "includes" the new wires that need to be added.

---[factory plug -male] +[female- leads -male]+ [female- ecu]

you would just need some mazda connectors and some heatshrink tubing to complete the package.

that is what i plan on doing after i save up the ~$500 for the safc2 ... cleanliness of install and ability to return to stock are crucial imho.

if you're so apt at returning it to stock, you can do what i did. Using snapping tap connectors, which are pretty easy to remove, and using bullet connectors for the AFM which you have to cut. When you pull it out, connect the two male and female bullets and it's back to stock again.
