Ding dong all the tar is gone:pics

Ahhhh, just finished putting the last coat of color on my engine bay. Still have to put some clear on it, but here's some before and afters. I only did the strut towers forward as I'll be doing an intercooler install and eventually a full turbo. Not worth making the whole thing pretty....yet.

duplicolor import white and their wheel paint clear coat. Heat shouldn't be a problem considering it was painted before :P

Does it come in a can? Like spray paint?

I am thinking of doing that as well. Just takes time to remove all the wires and resistors. and crap that mazda puts around our engine bays.

yessir, all of that comes in a can. I'll have a body shop do the whole thing once the car is done. This is just so it looks better for the next year or so as I get more money and parts.

Looks good. Glad to hear you say you want it to last about a year. I did the same thing (same paint, color everything)just before 7stock last year to make things looks good. It looks like complete and total crap now I'm completly redoing the car and will be pulling the engine and all engine bay componets to profesionally re-spray the entire engine bay.

It does look good for a while though!

Yeah, I went kinda nutso on the clear...so hopefully it'll hold up fairly well. I figure if it'll hold up on wheels with brake dust, rain, salt and stone hits..it aught to survive in my engine bay. I'm also going to let it dry for about 2 weeks (the next time I'm back here at home) to put everything back in the car.

Heh, ya. Its cause they were cracked and I had replacements from the junkyard. I left the old ones on so I could spray down under the headlights to seal that area up.

White engine bay painters unite!!! Hehe I am about a week or two away from finishing my engine bay. I cleaned out the bay and got all the grease out two weekends ago. This weekend I will sand, etching prime the bare metal parts, sand then prime the whole bay, and more sanding followed by spraying the engine bay in the stock white. Damn I got some work ahead of me .

the water pump housing is coming off as soon as I get verify that the car starts and runs still Then it's time to hit the buffing wheel. The water pump itself will be blasted and painted with high temp aluminum paint. I also have a complete S5 intake that I've done quite a bit of port and polish too. That will be shipped off to get powder coated. I'm torn between a candy apple red or that bluish/purple color you see on sport bike frames.

I dunno if you are talking to him or me. But if you are talking to me, I used a gun, not a can. And yes, I taped it very thouroghly. It was my first time ever painting after all.
