Different Turbo Throttle Bodies

Hello,

I am tired of finding the culprit of my weird idle (not high, not low, i think the fast idle cam is stuck + multiple other stuff)

anyways, I bought a S5 throttlebody to swap into my car
however, it seems like not everything from my throttle body is on the one i bought
Specifically there are 2 nipples out of a white plastic tube thingy on the mechanism that push up the fast idle cam (confusing eh?)

if you look at the picture below, the thingy that has the black hose attached to it is what i am talking about

Forum gurus, are there differences between 1989 than 1990-91?
(and no, i am not asking about S4 vs S5)

my car: 1989 S5 Turbo II
What I bought: Claimed 1991 Turbo II throttle Body + custom Elbow

Can you get a pic of the "front"?
Specifically where the TPS mounts and the places with the TPS contacts the cams on the throttle shafts?

Yes, the black hose (and the plastic thingy) is for the cold-start thermowax.

Custom elbow?
Uh, no.

the stock elbow is cut so it bends foward like what a Greddy Elbow would do (only cheaper in price)
i'm trying to re-route my piping and IC and this is part 1 of my project

That's the water thermo valve that controls the outer set secondary throttle plates (through the double throttle diaphragm) when the engine water is cold. It has zip to do with the fast idle cam/water thermowax etc. See local FSM.

In your picture of the front of the body, it's difficult to see the tps etc because it's so Dark.

In this picture of yours: https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...ntid=287055&d=
you can see the muchroom shaped damper with its white tit sitting on a black cam that controls the opening of the secondary throttle plates. Just threw that in for finger exercise. If you remove that small rod with the spring surrounding it, you disable that damper/cam and now can tie the outer secondary throttle plates to the fully open positon to see if you would like the removal of those plates at a later time in life.

well the TPS is not present in the "front" picture (because it is still on my Original TB in my car)

I just wonder if there are difference between the two to make it incompatible
like why my 89 uses a water thermal valve, and i assume the new 90 or 91+ uses this design?

or maybe to avoid confusion later, just do the TB mod to remove that unit?

Anyone have any final say?

i want to get to work next week, and I just want to know whether my cold start (Fast idle) will still work with this TB as opposed to the one with the water thermal valve.

Basically, I'm just asking if this will fit my S5 without loosing anything

The water thermowax and water thermo valve are close together, but don't work with each other or influence each other. Just FYI and nothing else.
