Different crank pulleys have different timing marks?
Well, today i pulled the engine out of my car because i had some oil leaks and it was the easyest way to get to them. I got to messing around with my crank pulley. I put 3 different pulleys on and all of the marks for the timing were different. I was shocked to say the least! How are you supposed to get the timing right if you dont have the right pulley? There was probably about a 10* variance in timing between the three pulleys. So why is there a variance in the pulleys?
Thanks...
Thanks...

They're supposed to be the same on the 13B fuel injected cars.
IF you had a first gen non fuel injected engine pulley, the marks are different in that the first mark IS TDC and the second 20 degrees after tdc. But then only three of the four pulley mount holes will match.
I have several pulleys and came up with the same results as you. There is some *slop* in the holes. Maybe some holes(in the pulley) were drilled on a Monday??? Got me.
I took a spare parts engine and assy it halfway and with the rear *lobe* in the open, put a dial gauge on the rear lobe to find tdc. I finally just lost interest in this project (gave up).
