Differences in S4 / S5 Engines?
Anyone know how to distinguish a Series 4 engine from a Series 5 engine just by looking at it? Theres an engine I wanna buy and I wanna make sure its the Series 5.

the s5 engine will have stamped into it n350 on each of the iron housings somewhere. the flywheel will be n350 (na) or n370 (t2). the water pump housing if its there will have a plastic thermostat cover that bolts on with 3 bolts. if its a turbo it will have a threaded hole above the trailing spark plugs for the knock sensor. that work?

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
IN general, s4 engines have ID plates on the rotor housing tops that say NSO license japan etc. adn teh s5 ones do not.
obviously the front covers and intakes are a bt different too...teh s5 frot cover has the electronic OMP on it, which is black, round and has wires coming off of iot...the s4 version is small, metal, and has a rod coming to the throettle body. IF by some chance the OMP is gone, the s5 front cover has 3 bolt holes for the OMP, the s4 only has 2.
ANother way to tell is the rear housing...below the oil filter pedestal is a small coolant temp. sensor. if the terminal on this is round, it is a s4 engine, if the terminal on this is flat, it is a s5.
