I'm looking at getting a new PS rack for my car (89 TII) and all the distributors i've called have two options for the car... one with a velocity sensor and one without

can anybody tell me the difference between these two racks? one also has 3 ports while the other only has 2

okay that does answer a few of my questions...

however... I have a v9 swapped into my car (i know i know i'm a soul killer) and so the power steering setup is a custom setup... I had previously run the 3 port rack with one of the ports blocked off. It worked for a time but then my rack took a crap on itself. I do not know if this is because I was only running 2 of the 3 ports or because the rack was ready to go anyway.

So I guess my question is am I safe to go with the 15.2 ratio rack (3 port) running it the way mentioned above or should i swap to the 17.4 ratio rack that only utilizes 2 ports in the first place... I would prefer the quicker steering of the 15.2 if its ok to run it the way I am

I might also add that the first setup I had, my stock v8 PS pump puts out too much pressure. Which was great at idle and low speeds but made the steering overly sensitive at high speeds. That may have added to the cause of the rack taking a dump on itself... I have however now acquired an aftermarket PS pump for my motor designed to work with swaps and it has a lower pressure and runs the fluid colder

Regarding the rack, just buy one and get it converted to a manual rack. You will be a whole lot happier.

^DAM! I was hoping you stuck three geo metra motors together. Though that would probably be an inline 9...
