Diff Setup insturuction?

Hey all
I am rebuilding the clutch pack in my 87 TII and I need to see if there are any websites that give a good intruction on how to setup the backlash and preload on the carrier. I did some serching and was unable to come up with the correct info.

Any help would be great.

Thanks Howard

it's not in the factory service manual?

if you haven't checked i would start there, you can find a link to your model's manual in the FAQ thread at the top of the forum.

Yeah i don't have a factory manual but I know that is what I need to get. I was hoping to find a web page with the info on it I am going to check with the mazda dealership that my dealership deals with when we need mazda parts and see if I can borrow or buy the manual from them

Ok I am a idiot i must have looked at that part of the faq 10 time and didn't make the connection. I am going to print that part of the manuel and try and get my diff back together tonight. I will let you all know how it turns out and how much shim i put in if it works well.

Thanks
Howard

Well I got it all back together and in the car feels really good not to tight minimal chatter and locks up good. I put a .040" shim on both sides of the lsd. My diff has 150K on it and the clutches are really worn but a smaller shim in a fresher diff. It wasn't that hard to do either.
