There is SOMETHING backfeeding the ignitioin system.

What is happening is the igniton key is not cutting off power completley and the alternators output is feeding the system.

Seems like whatever is backfeeding the igniton system, is NOT feeding the fuel pump. That's why it eventually dies...lack of fuel. And when the alt stops turning, no more power to the ignition system/ECU etc.

Done any alternator wiring lately? Any aftermarket wiring?

It's been a while but this problem has occurred on this forum in the past. It's not really dieseling imho.

Doing a search also reveals that someone had this problem after installing an electric fan. How? I don't remember how. Miswired is the only answer.

One solid reason for it not being Dieseling, is fuel injectors don't work after the key is OFF.

Do you have an electric fan?

Once when I was younger and dumber I had a 240sx. I wired up an electric fan and used the fuel pump fuse (i think, it was a wile ago) as my power source, so the fan would come on with the ignition. Well since electric motors act as generators when the are spun, the car would run for a few seconds wile the fan spun.
