Unhappy do you need to make a bracket for auto to 5speed swap????? please help...

Okay so my automatic transmission in my 91 na gave out finally. i have a 90 na 5 speed trans along with the driveshaft and rear diff to swap in. A friend just told me that he heard that you have to make a custom trans crossmember mount because the holes for the auto trans mount aren't in the same spot as the 5-speed one.

Is this true????

I have already put the 5-speed pedal assembly, master cylinder, clutch line and all that other stuff in. I ordered my flywheel and clutch so im just waiting on them to get here and im planning on doing the swap this next coming saturday.

I have six days until im doing it so if i need to make something please let me so i can hopefully make the peice before saturday comes. Im still in highschool and have a job so i cant afford not having a car much longer and im starting to feel bad bummin rides from friends all the time.

I will really appreciate any info and help. Thanks alot. Clay

The cross member sits back about "3-"4 farther on the ATX than they do on the MTX. So yes you will have to fab something up to take care of that issue.

read that it should help you in your quest, and has pics of making something to deal with the cross member issue.

Look at that link... IS it me? or does this look really weak? One bolt hole on each side.. Nothing keeping the tran from moving side to side but the engine? This just does not look like it really hold that transmission. I Did see another way that i might copy. and that is Extending the bracket out itsself. Using two steel bars with two screw holes at each end... That would keep the tranny in place from side to side. Please post photos if you have this setup
