Did I eff myself? Too fast + no abs = locked up wheels

So I went in to a corner too fast at autocross the other day and locked up my wheels and sanded down a side of my tires on the pavement. I have a lovely flat spot on the tires that is quite noticable when driving. Is there anyway to fix this? Anyway to return my tires to their spherical comfort zone?

My guess is new tire? Might be screwed.

yea, that's a new tire situation, unless somehow you can manage to evenly flaten out the entire tire..... uhmmmm.... no, new tire!

depends on how bad it is, if you're really pressed put it on the back and do a burnout until its round again =)

Locked my brakes up trying not to hit an idiot!! Drove away thump thump thump.
After about 500 miles or so it went away.

I like the idea of light'em up. Hopefully that will work :P

yup, I should've taken pics of my first set of new kumho ecsta 711s that lasted a total of around 7,000 miles with my driving. flat spots, wires, bubbles, man they were fucked. but yeah flat spots are a bitch, luckily tires are cheap for 15 inch wheels, go to vulcantire.com

i heard that a burnout wouldn't work because it would wear evenly on the tire thus leaving the flat spot. maybe i'll put like 45psi in them and do a burnout and go from there. we'll see what happens. i got eagle f1's with a decent amount of life left so i'm hoping i can salvage them.

You make it up as if locking up your wheels is a rare occurrence/big deal. Sounds like you need new tires, but hey, sliding around is fun. Even if it is from the wrong end of the car =P

I know in some racing they shave the tire...don't know if they use a lathe-type device...not even sure if this is practical for you.

Just how far did you slide locked-up?

i mean it isn't horrible, it's just annoying because my car is a daily driver... locking of the front wheels doesn't help in autocross from my experience. it just induces understeer which in most cases ends in a +1 or 2
