yep, sorry to hear but it sounds like it tossed an apex seal which took out the others as well.

Sorry, but the front rotor is blown. When an apex seal fails, there's no warning, believe me. October of 2003, I driving out to a school for some field work. Everything was running fine, the engine pulled to redline and smooth. Then, as I approach a turn, I downshift and suddenly a sound like a muted poom, the engine loses power and stalls out. When I start it up again, it's like it's runnning on one rotor, little power, and I'm barely able to top 50.

I was hoping what you did, it was something else. I confirmed it with a compression tester, and found later that my rear rotor wasn't far behind--it had a low PSI number of 80-85 (which is on the verge of failure).

FYI, if you're on a budget for a rebuild, you'd best go with Kevin Landers of Rotary Resurrection. Good rebuilds at a good price. While you're at it, I suggest you have your fuel injectors cleaned and balanced too (I found that I had two injectors of the wrong impedance).

If you've never pulled an engine before, it's not very difficult to do. Just take your time, use lots of plastic bags, masking tape, and a marker to track parts.

cool thanx for the info...you guys think I can run it home on the one rotor?? Whats it like to drive on the one rotor to at least get her home? And for me I want to go ahead and do the t2 conversion so now I need to know the best place to scrounge for parts on a budget...

Yes, it's driveable, but starting and rolling from a stop will be difficult. You're running on one rotor, idle will be non-existant, it'll be prone to stalling so keep RPMS above 1000, and top speed will be limited to 50MPH on non-turbo cars. I suggest that you have at least one escort car to tail you in case of any problems.

Run the engine as LITTLE as possible to minimize internal damage. I was able to drive my car home from the place that I had the engine blow, and to and from the body shop.

depending on how far you have to go, I made 400 miles in my seven when it blew it's first engine.
