I heard it costs more to put a 13B-REW engine in there than a 20B. Just go with a 13BT. Costs 1/5 of the conversion (or less) and gets roughly 3/4 of the power capabilities of an REW. Do the math.

Why?

That didn't make any sense.

You're comparing a twin-turbo engine to a non-turbo engine?  That didn't make any sense either.

I have 88' n/a.....
Oh, I get it!  You're going on step above the typical NA to turbo swap!

In that case...

AARGH!

theres nothing wrong with doing a n/a to turbo swap if you happen to have a rx7 body that wasnt turbo and you want a turbo rx7..if you got the money you should try to do the 20b swap

ok--before you start looking at what swap to do, why not ask yourself what exactly you want from your car? Trying to do a swap of any kind without a plan for what you want in the end is like taking a hooker to meet your parents....IT MAKES NO SENSE

Without a reasonable idea of how much performance you want, you will have no idea of what swap is for you, how much you should expect to spend, how much work is involved, etc etc

Before you look at doing any swaps, do some searching here and see what issues are involved, and also ask about the results that others have gotten. If you want a huge amount of power, you will have a completely different set of requirements than if you just want say another 40-50 hp on tap.

If you can't do most of the work on the 20b swap it can be upwards of 20 to 30 grand. If you do all of the work it's less than 10 grand. The engine usually costs around 3 to 4 grand. If you are willing to do the fd swap just do the 13 bre swap, more powerful engine, huge ports, much more potential plus it will bolt up to the stock TII tranny. Honestly unless you are willing to pay a lot, you are better off just going with a TII swap the engine will cost much less, and I don't even know if the 13-brew will bolt up to the tranny.

Wouldn't it just be alot better all around (financially and performance wise) too get a tii engine and beef up the reliability so you can run a bigger turbo than stock? Alot of FD guys ditch the twins and go single anyway. I've really never understood the point of swapping in a REW engine, just get an fd if you want twins. Although I guess being different is always nice.

im not trying to be a dick, but if you guys dont know the answers to these questions then there is NO WAY you should be attempting such a swap. I dont know how to relocate an LSD, it pretty much goes inside the rear pumpkin, you dont relocate engine wires, you rewire them. I know virtually nothing about this swap, but I will tell you this, you will need pretty much all the electronics from the FD, the motor, probably the mounts, probably the transmission and mounts, quite possibly custom guages and i doubt the FD cluster fits, custom driveshaft, maybe custom shifter depending on how the engine tranny is mounted, and thats not including anything about working dash switches, or headlights, or wipers, or anything like that.

The FD transmission is basically the same internals as the Kouki FC turbo.
The FD LSD is a Torsen and swaps into any of the FC turbo diffs.
If you've MISTAKEN "LSD" with "DIFF", then they are basically the same - the FD front pinion and pinion housing is different and does not drop into an FC chassis without major custom work.

FD engine swap info here:
http://fc3spro.com/TECH/SWAP/FD3S/rew.html

20B swap info here:
http://fc3spro.com/TECH/SWAP/COSMO/20b.html

How did you end up with all those parts?
Are they stolen?

Nominee for understatement of the year.

This could be a sick little vehicle if you can pull it off. Best of luck to ya.
