Question Detonation?

Alright guys I was reading another thread and one guy said that on N/a's you sometimes hear sputtering or poping sounds out of your exhaust and that that is just part of owning a rotary car. Is this true or just B.s. cuz I hear that stuff out of my FC but if it is detonation I want to fix that. Anybody know the truth.

When are you getting the popping noises? At what RPM/speed/idle?

I got em....only after I put on the full exhaust and then let off the gas. Not what detonation sounds like. Detonations sounds like a pinging noise coming from the engine itself.

Good point, something I forgot to mention.

Detonation |= Afterburn.

Detonation sounds like it's coming from the engine itself, generally accompanied with a loss of power on acceleration.

Afterburn can be the result of a uncombusted fuels entering the exhaust.

I have never heard of a N/A detonating w/ stock ports. Do you have a s/p or anything?

Dude the main thing is your exaust sysytem, do you have cats? if you do and your hearing that its bad id start figuring out whats going on. If you dont have you stock exaust system its perfectly normal for an N/A to be backfiring, but not normal for it to be detonating. My N/A backfires like crazy, youll know cuz it generally happens at a specific point like after 4k and while letting go of throttle.
