Detenation problems? Fuel managment/AFR/Boost level are all in the safe zone.

At WOT in third gear at 11psi, 12.4 AFR , i get a strange noise that sounds VERY similiar to detenation. I am no stranger to this sound since it was the "reaper" of my last motor.

I am running a t04b hybrid with an HKS F-con with the GCC(all fuel levels in top RPM bands are leaned out a little to avoid 10.0 at WOT) and stock injectors. Fuel pump is the RX-7.com pump. I am soon buying the Rtek 2.0 and selling the f-con with GCC and soldered HKS FCD if anyone is interested.

I think it could be something starting to rattle at that certain speed in the engine bay but am just curious if anyone might have an idea or had something factory in the bay that has rattled on them. Im am gonna go play with my boost levels and fuel settings tonight to see if I still hear it. Lower boost and richer mix.

Just kinda wierd?

uhhh, why the hell are you running 12.4 at 11psi?

at over 10 psi 11:1 is relatively safe all around, 11.5:1 is pushing it, 12:1 is really pushing it, 12.5+:1 is retarded in a rotary.

What intercooler? EGT? Timing? What temp was it outside? Everything plays a role.... I would wager some money on the fact that you're TOO LEAN for your equipment.

plus octane of the fuel plays a huge role, if you are running 87 then no wonder why it is detonating.

wow, suprised! I thought 12 was safe and 14 ish was pushing it(still researching on the best AFR) I put 91 octane in it but it is CALI 91, I have a Greddy frount mount v-spec fin, timing is at factory setting/ no advance, was about 85 degrees today.

Good to know 11 is safe, appreciate the advice guys. Sorry for the ignorance.
