Back a couple of years ago there were two companies out there that made ECU chips for 86-88 NA's. (I know because I have one) They advertized that the chip would add 10% power, add fuel economy, and remove the fuel cut. I forget the name of the company that made it (I'll have to check the receipt).

Anyway, the chip cost around $400 bucks...Way to much especially if you plan on going aftermarket ECU at a latter date.

As for the product claims, they were right about removing the fuel cut but I never saw any real gains on the dyno or the fuel economy.

I doubt the stock ECU is even mapped that high?
Even if it was mapped to 9,000RPM, what prevents you from banging off the rev limiter if it's set at 9,200RPM?

You do know that Mazda has acknowledged the 13B motors have an inherent resonance at 8,500RPM, right?
Sustained used at around that RPM will literally cause the engine to destroy itself.
Unless you're running deep-groove bearings, hardened stat gears, and ultra high oil pressure (regulators), the motor just cannot sustain revs that high in stock form.

If you can afford all of that, you can afford a Microtech!

I have cleaenced bearing, the stock hardend gears and 110 psi pressure regulator.

What resonance are you talking about? do you have documentation?

are you talking about seal float/chatter?

or problems with the gears? (they are hardend and all the FC 13b's have 12 pin rotor gears that were taken directly from the racing program and designed for 9k)

or the resonance that destroys the tension bolts? I silicon beaded them for that.

or something else im not thinking of? I havnt heard of this, please go into more detail.
