Desperate times call for desperate measures
long story short..
I live on the other end of the globe, no BUR9EQ's to be found.. ppl look at me like i'm on crack...
NGK distrubitor said they can bring some, but they'll cost $16 each
Everything was done on the car, and my current plugs were fouled to hell, they barely emittied a spark....and I was desperate...
I owned the car one month and had never driven it...i didn't even know what it was like to drive my car!
so I put in my spark plugs from my eclipse GS-T , plugs from a 2.0 Turbo with mods can't be that off for a turbo rotary i figured...
they are NGK BPR7ES plugs...
i put them in.. and the car fired right up, and runs like a champ! i drove the car all night after it never ran for 8 months...
u could say i was more then a little happy that i finally got my sexy rexy on the road
other then the obvious heat range difference.. why does the Rex use such wack spark plugs?? and am I killing my engine by using "regular" ones?
any other cars other then rotaries come with these plugs?
i heard a rumour boat engines use them too?

Not sure of the differeinces. I have never seen a plug that has the tip in the config of the ones for the rex. You need two different plugs BTW
BUR7EQ for the leading.
BUR9EQ for the trailing.
Can't remember how much mine cost but I know it was not anywheare near $64 bux for 4. Surely somebody would buy them here and send them parcel post to you.

The Rotary uses "Whack" pluges because of the design of the motor.. the tip of the plug can't stick into the combustion chamber or it would tear into the apex seal as it goes by the plug. Also, with a traditional style plug, the tip will shield the spark from the rotor chamber.. can cause a missfire...
If they are working.. great.. but, honestly, i'm astonished that it worked. And, i think you got lucky that the electrode tip didn't poke out into the combustion chamber......

Thats what I was thinking...lucky they didnt protrude into the chamber and chip an apex seal.
I wonder how many times this has happened to some poor fool and they dont understand what happened hehehe

Wow, i guess my car is a living fluke huh? :P I ordered the plugs, doesn't mean i'm happy about it :P i'd rather not spend 3x the cost if i didn't have to, that's why I asked
Thanks banzai... it costs me 20 bux just ship out an MO to the states... so to make it worth while I think I'll buy a bunch of Rex stuff at once..
DTSS elimator bushings, shifting bushings, plugs, air temp sensor, and some other stuff and bring it in a big box to save on shipping...
I have a mail address in newyork anyhow, so i only pay local shipping for american vendors, just sending the money TO the states is the hassle
