Derringer car alarm help!

Hello there,

So a little back story: A while back I bought a 1987 rx7 Non-turbo from an old couple who said the car would come with a very expensive alarm system called 'Derringer', made by VSE, or Vehicle Security Electronics. The previous owners didn't give me a remote for the alarm, but mentioned to me that in order for you to start the car, you had to push on a little button (I think he said it's a type of kill switch). I was never really worried about not having the remote because the alarm itself isn't actually on (the plug that hooks up to the + side of the battery isn't connected), but the kill switch feature still works.

Recently however, some low life gangsters broke into my brothers car and stole everything inside, including a JDM beginner window badge (who steals that????). They ripped the seats, broke the front glass, dogged the car... basically violated everything. I have a feeling I'm next and I don't want something like this to ever happen to my rx7 so I'm planning on installing another alarm that sirens like crazy if anyone tries to mess with it.

After the incident, I bought an alarm (viper 5701 remote start) off a member of this forum for pretty cheap. It came with everything needed and I'll be using some info I found here to help install it. I really like the fact that the current alarm system (Derringer) has the kill switch feature, but since the car alarm isn't on, that, and the club, are my only defenses against thieves.

I have been searching around looking for a remote or guide on how to uninstall this thing, but unfortunately, they went out of business a couple of years ago and don't have any info on any of their products. If someone here happens to have a remote for the Derringer, which I will gladly buy, I'll just use hook up the alarm and keep it, but if I can't find one, my hopes are that I can install the viper alarm on top of the Derringer (if that's possible). I really want to keep the kill switch feature (and the kill switch IS connected to the alarm, it's not a separate feature), but on top of that have an alarm system that works. I'm guessing if I can't find a remote, I can leave the Derringer alarm unhooked and follow a few wiring diagrams and install the Viper alarm.

I know having two alarm systems seems way out there, but if it's possible I want to try it! ... and I'm a broke college student and work with what I can so don't judge!

If anyone has a remote or wiring diagrams for the Derringer Model VS 8300 please share it with me, I want to be able to go back to sleep at night.

Thanks for your time.

every alarm basically installs the same, the only wire they cut is the "start" wire.

I decided to post my questions on the12volt.com, maybe someone out their has some sort of guide, like how they helped this other guy.

Either way I'll keep this up just in case someone on here has a little more info on this.

Thanks again!
