MO Deleted Actuator Ports, 6-Port Porting Question

Hello,

I've got an NA 6-port that I'm rebuilding and wish to street port. I've had to delete the actuators because I've ditched the OEM LIM/UIM setup in favor of an Atkins wrap around intake for a 48 DCOE carb.

I'm looking at Mazdatrix's 6-port street port template, but notice in their info that it's a port meant for keeping the actuators for the 5th and 6th port. So my question is, would I still use the Mazdatrix template for the 6-port? Or is there another company out there with a 6-port template I can use that is more suited for my application? Or am I better off leaving the parts as they are?

I'll probably go ahead and call Mazdatrix sometime today and talk to them.

there isn't much to gain by porting the auxiliary port end irons anyways, most of your portwork would be in the center iron and by removing the wings in the exhaust port sleeves.

Thanks for the info, I called both Mazdatrix and Atkins up just a few min ago. While neither have ever ran into a situation that I'm looking at. Neither felt there would be an issue at all when it came to using Mazdatrix's 6-port template in regards to the 48 DCOE.

I used the Pineapple Racing templates on mine. They don't touch the auxiliary ports any appreciable amount. All of their port work was on the primaries save they do enlarge the secondaries slightly and open them a little sooner. Matter of fact I didn't even touch the aux ports. From what I have read on here they already close so late there's no gain to be had from messing with them so I went with the forum's advice and left them alone. As RotaryEvolution said remove the exhaust splitters/diffusers in the exhaust sleeves. You have to anyway if you want to port the exhaust as Mazdatrix explains in their porting FAQ.

By the way although I still have the stock LIM/UIM I have the sleeves and rods for the aux ports removed.

I also have Pineapple Racing streetport templates, but when I match them up to my middle plate they are way off. I can take a picture and post it if you want, but I don't feel safe using those. So I went ahead and bought Mazdatrix's 6-port template and will remove the little they have their template removing. I too will be removing the rods for the aux ports, and be either replacing the exhaust sleeves with TII sleeves or just cutting out the diffusers.

Here's the deal with the late closing 5th/6th ports. I actually kinda rigged up my front and rear plates with the sleeves, complete LIM attached, and actuated the sleeves with a vacuum pump. The sleeves only roll to about the center of the port (a little past) so the printed closing time in FSM is accurate and not all that late. Take out the sleeve and it now becomes the edge of the port.

Just a little FYI.

Here is the picture of mine, and yes I have the dowel pins installed to line it up perfectly.

I think you have the wrong template. It should look like this one.

Dak is right . That's a 4 port template. It should have it etched on the bottom.
