Unhappy dead logicon

Hi

Anyone experience their logicon completely dying? checked fuse, reset and it appears fine! Even changed it with the wiper fuse(same one) Still nothing.

There's no power! Nothing on any of the switches or fan control. Any suggestions?

I'm heading to a wrecker tomorrow to suss out another logicon but I'm not sure this will make a difference. If any one knows where else I might look for what the cause is, I would be appreciative.

Thanks

hummer, just get another one. I have been through this twice with my 87 t2. they go out. i just replaced mine for the second time for 65 bucks. totally worth it to finally have it working, in my opinion. and a fairly easy install. you can find the install in other threads on the board. just do a search.

Agree with CR. You might pull the connector G-01, the 13 pin connector off and see if you have 12v at the WHITE AND GREEN wire. . I've gone through a few Logicons on three different cars. Cheaper in Texas. Usually in the 15-20 buck range.. So with the key on and you pushing buttons, you can't hear the motor or door opening and shuting. By the way the 88 free manual that is on line at http://www.iluvmyrx7 has trouble shooting procedures for different failures of the Logicon. Looking at the schematic you will see the wires to the motor and by jumpering a gnd and pwr to the motors you can tell if its the motors or the Logicon itself screwing up, to some degree. Yup. Crummy logicon, probably. Never can tell though. If the new used one does not work you might try the schematics, although I've bought used logicons with identical failure modes. Oh. Check for a good ground on the same plug mentioned above. Black wire. Bottom row, center.

Thanks Guys

will try today. Just seems unusual to have all functions quit together, but I guess that is one of which sounds like of many, natures of the beast.

Will let you know.

Don't know what year your car is, but 87-88s had a problem with cold soldered connections in the Logicons. If you have a lot of spare time, you could resolder the connections on the circuit board, especialy where the plug is. I fixed mine this way, but it didn't completely die like yours did. Good luck.

Cool fixed

thanks for the advice people. Replaced the logicon and again everything is right. Still it was pretty unusual to have the entire unit fail. But anyway thanks again.
