daytime running lights

after following aaroncake's instructions (http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/lights.htm) i was unsuccessful of getting them to work. but i was able to jump a couple wires on the harness to get the drls. wondering if maybe i did something wrong. the two wires i jumped together were the red w/white strip as aaron said and the solid black one across from it on the same harness. i couldnt get the lights to turn on with grounding the red/white one like aaron said.

as much as i hate to say it the words of aaroncake were wrong DRL instructions did not work for me. maybe i didnt read them right idk. i tried everything. but this is the way i happened to get it it work for me

well since i was getting impatient and just wanted to put the car back together i figured this was how i should wire it up. i ran a length of wire from the red and white striped wire on the lighting harness and another length of wire off of the black with blue stripe wire and ran these to a switch. the r/w wire would be hooked up to the positive side of the switch and the black/b;ue would run to the accersory side of the switch. a ground can be hooked upif your switch is equiped with a light. i mounted the switch to the little switch holes near the mirrow controller. all worked uot great.

What year is your car? There may be differences between S4 and S5 that I am not aware of.

But if all you did was jump the red/white wire to ground and it worked, then that's exactly what my instructions say and you may have just connected the relay/switch wrong.

i have an s4. well what i did before i cut into the harness was stuck a piece of wire into the plug where the red/white wire was and physically grounded it to the chassis. got nothing. not really sure what i happened todo wrong. but also the way i have it wired up if i turn the car off with the switch on the car will sit there and run for about 30-45 seconds then die. not sure why but it does,
