dash board repainting...

dash board repainting...

I was looking at my rx7 earlier.. and thought to myself.. im wondering if i could paint my dashboard and other parts of the car to a matching color that i am gonna repaint it..

and im wondering if its possible...
if it is.. will it turn out good?

if you mean paint it a gloss- then you have to first get it smooth.
Glossy might be a bit much, SOME gloss and some flat or semi gloss would be cool though.

I had changed the color of one of my interiors on a different cars years ago, I scuffed it and cleaned the hell out of it- it came out pretty good.
But if you give it a good enough hit that paint will come off.

You can get vinyl and plastic paint in quarts and gallons from local autobody supply places- that would come out better then spray cans and be cheaper then spray cans.

people do fiberglass over their dashboards then i think use bodyfiller , and than paint em.. That show car stuff. Not my tea.

Cover it with suede would be awesome

I have had good luck with SEM paints. Check their website and the colors available.

well i was gonna do flat colors..
cause the shine would just kill the **** out of my eyes..
but i was thinking about jamming on some fiber glass then making my own custom shapes on it
not much of a big diffrence.. just flling in a couple of things

im planning to paint it red..

Is it a plastic form covered with foam and finish?

... Because you just can't okay! Trust me on this.


But yea, if your car spends a lot of time parked in the sun you'll likely break a lot of that dash stuff pulling it out, why you want to paint your dash red anyway?

After all is said and done you might not like it and it will look pretty riced.
