Damper V/S Regulator

If the pulsation damper is on the primary rail (Short) then I would assume the regulator is the one on the secondary rail. Am I correct?

I just went to replace the damper and noticed that the regulator (?) has a plastic cap and screw as well. At least mine does. I removed the plastic cap to find the screw had backed out on the regulator. My damper does not have a cap and the screw is missing.

Has anyone heard of the regulator failing the same way as the damper? Since they seem to be built similar.

You have one strange 87 rx. You should have a primary rail, short in size, that has a pulsation damper on its forward end. Plastic cap and tiny screw to be seen if the cap is removed. Then you should have a secondary rail up and outboard, longer in length, with a fuel pressure regulator, totally metal, with a metal pipe on it for vacuum. At least my two N/A'S are that way. My turboii is similar except the regulator and the pulsation damper are located on the opposite end of what is cited above. Seems you have a strange car, but then again, it could be I just don't get around enough.

The fuel pressure regulator is the one with a vacuum line on it.

Thanx

Thank you for the primary v/s secondary descriptions. You were correct.

When I pulled the manifold off, I was looking for a fuel leak. I saw the infamous plastic cap and pulled it off to find the screw.

The plastic cap was on the REGULATOR. That is what threw me for a loop. Someone must have pulled it off the PD and then put it back on the regulator by mistake.

New parts are here, I am putting it all back together today.

Thanks Again,
-billy

I'd be interested in buying that pulsation damper from you if you have not screwed the screw into it and it has not been leaking. How about it??????Would like the plastic cap also. $$$$$$$$$$

re

The car was pissing fuel everywhere. I have removed the old PD. Have not screwed the screw back in the old one. I hope that it was the leaking problem. I will know today or Sunday when I get it all back together (I am replacing vacuum hoses and injector o-rings as well).

Do you really want an old used PD or did you mean the new one?

I would have liked the old one if the problem was nothing but the screw being out. But if it was a pissing, I have no need for it. Was going to use it for a spare if it was not leaking. If anyone has the screw out and puts it back in, I'd like to say you should use locktite and only screw until you feel resistance. If you crank on the screw you twist and distort and break the rubber diaphram.
