Damned smoke....

Hey guys... ok... i have a good 650 miles on my atkins rebuild. The car has been smoking since the engine was put in. And im 99.99999% sure it is oil burning. And its coming from the turbo as well. I was looking at the thing while it was idling and there was some coming out from around the o2 sensor then down a little bit further. There is SO damned much smoking pouring out of my car. Also when the car is just sitting there idling i have in the middle of -20 and 0 cm of Hg on the boost gauge. When i rev the engine i goes straight up to near +35 and when I completely let off it goes back to -20 until it gest back to idle. So.... help??

Thanks

Aaron

It'll smoke for a good while until all the seals are broken in. Don't worry its normal after a rebuild. As for the boost gauge, they're not really accurate anyway. Get an aftermarket one. When your not pushing on the accelaerator it will be negative(vacuum).ie-boost lag. Hope that helps.

So you think the seals are STILL breaking in after 650 miles? When I say im smoking... i mean it looks like it did the ATF thing to my engine...

I didn't know it was smoking that bad still... sorry I ment "turbo-lag" instead of boost lag...

Could it be a leaky turbo seal? Are you following the correct breakin procedures, such as not going over a certain RPM and not getting on boost?
