Damn you FC!

Apparently after work I was sitting in my car letting it warm up. About 30 seconds later a honda stops in front of me and burns out. My car is s5 TII btw.

I stupidly and mistakenly chased after it and about 2 minutes later im hitting almost 100mph on a open road. I let off the gas and then I try to lightly give it some gas again.

My car shakes violently!! It bogs hardcore when I try to give it any gas. I manage to stumble my way home. I let it cool down for 5 minutes and turn it off hoping it'd be fine in the morning.

WRONG! I drive it to work and it's a horrible ride. I bogs EVERYTIME i give it gas, sometimes it won't even go.accelerate and then i just boost into speed. I even stalled a couple of times because it hesitates so bad.

My car is completly stock, I've searched and I'm guessing it might be a vaccum leak or a bad TPS.

Any insight before i take it to a shop and get a full tune up and maybe readjust the TPS?

Thank you.

i wouldnt go into complete engine failure mode yet. our cars are getting pretty up there in the years and those vacuum hoses crack and split really easy. chances are you fully boosted and blew a hose somewhere so now your gettin mass leakage. get a can of carb cleaner and go to town sprayin it on all vacuum hoses you can find while the car sits and idles. if the engine randomly idles really high while you spray then theres the problem. if it were apex seal then you probably lost your turbo as well. try to get a video of your problem and post it if you can, but i wouldnt suggest you drive it much at all until you fix the problem.

there are many other things that could cause the problems your facing so try to explain in detail everything thats going on. (video would make things much easier)

sounds like what mine was doing but, if i revd mine up it would kick back in, it would run off one rotar, it was down for like 8 months and found out that it was extremly flooded BAD. We did the deflooding trick for about 20 minutes straight and it kicked in and now its running great again.

one of your injectors might be leaking or bad, check up on those too.

This just goes to show you shouldn't be driving stupid.

do a compression check

+1 on doing a compression check....especially after the 'display' you just described

Sounds like your primary injectors.

This sounds to me like primary injectors. Basically your primary fuel injectors are useful up until you hit around 2000 - 2600 RPM. Depending on how far your foot is into it. The secondary injectors start picking up the extra weight around that RPM range depending on the climate and octane levels.

Here is how to test that. Basically monitor your tach, drive it around at low RPMs (less than 2000 RPM). If the motor dosn't bog down your primary injectors more than likely are OK. If you put your foot into it and it bogs down between 2000 and 2500 RPM its probably your secondary injectors. It sounds weird until you think about it. I've seen this exact issue on both Turbo and NA cars.

You might notice that it doesn't bog down much when you put it to the floor, thats an indication that your secondary injectors might have a problem, but at high flow not much is lost.

Its a better bet to replace all 4 injectors, since it cost WELL less than $100. Just remember that the primary and secondary injectors are different part numbers. Although you will need to remove the upper intake manifold so plan on having the gasket available.

Other preventative maintenance while your in there might include the oil injectors and the pulsation dampener (fuel dampener)

As far as major internal motor damage the symptoms you are indicating don't sound close. The vacuum leak idea is also possible though. I would recommend a vacuum test similar to the previous post just in case.

Please respond if I am getting the wrong idea

Does it idle fine?

Sounds to me like you blew off a vacuum hose. Of course, could be an apex seal too. I was beating on mine when I blew an apex seal, it would try to die everytime I gave it gas and idle'd like a lawnmower since it was only running on one rotor.

my car is odd

So, i get off of work and im afriad to drive my car. It bogged so bad on me on the way to work that i was afraid i was going to hit someone in the parking lot just trying to get it going in 1st. Well I let it warm up for a good 5 minutes before i start the home drive. The car drives like CRAP still! at one point it wouldnt even budge and i was revving it like a bitch to get it going! it would just bog bog bog and then BOOSH?! into speed. Cars behind me were probably saying " wtf is that car doing" they were obviously changing lanes to get away.

So on the way home I had to pick up my girlfriend in a vey busy atmosphere. During that drive there i decieded to hold my foot in the clutch and revv it until i felt it finally pull instead of trying to let it bog into speed again.

Well when i parked i turned it off. I waited about 30 minutes before i turned it on again.

What the f..? the car started to drive normal. What was even weirder was that my factory fog lights finally effing came on! My car has very low miles, only 43k original miles.

I have no clue what is happening but for todays drive to work and home it drove normal. My car idles fine, about 750-800 rpms. I do noticed my car is rather weaker.

I'm going to do a full 60k tune up even though it's early to see if it helps, and maybe change the injectors also.

I really appreciate everyones insight and help, you rotary homies are awesome!

You have a boost gauge? I really think you have a vacuum leak.

so when the car started running good again your fog lights came on as well? sounds like you might have a grounding issue or two.

here are your most probable causes.

1 do a compression check
2 if apex seal then it will be very low on one rotor.
3 check vacuum leaks
4 check grounds.
5 seafoam trick? you might have excess carbon buildup??(prolly not it but my engine actually carbon locked (long long story))
6 if all else fails then get injectors cleaned and tested. also check connectors and the voltage.
7 do a 60K tune up no matter what.
