Damn you code 11 !!

Been working on my sisters 90 GXL and this is the problem. I pulled a code 11 i think (1 long blink 1 short blink) Now we replaced the air intake thermosensor on the engine ( the one thats on the intake manifold). Her problems still exists. After about 12 miles..the car will start back fireing and not wanting to rev..like the fuel has been cut. Turn off the car..wait about 5 seconds turn it on and keep going.

What else can I check? If anyone knows please tell me..she is driveing me nuts..

When I got code 11 in my FC, I just cleaned up the connection too the intake thermo sensor, check enegine light went away so I guess it works.

My car never acted like you discribed though, just timing, and make sure your enegine has a nice fat ground too it.

I think there's an intake thermosensor in the air flow meter too. Not sure if code 11 relates to that one or the one on the block though. I'd try cleaning the connection like trainwreck mentioned first at least.

The one in the afm is integral to the afm.You would have to replace the afm to fix the thermo sensor in it.

code 11 is just for the block, code 10 is thermo sensor in the afm.

I recently read an article in AutoSpeed, where the author wrote about how on the particular car he was driving had the plug fall off the air intake temp sensor on the intake manifold and that had resulted in a timing problem with his car (not Mazda). The problem was causing a lack of retardation during boost and causing pinging. Again, not a RX-7, but possible perhaps on a RX-7. Just FYI.

AutoSpeed is an online publication. It cost just a touch of money for a subscription with past issues available. Its an OZ publication.

Yeah it's fine for about 12 miles then it just loses all power. Turn it off wait about 5 seconds turn it back on and it's fine.

Bringing this back from the dead. Where exactly is the IAT on an S5? I can't seem to find any information on it's location in the FSM.
