that altima is a handling nightmare. no offense thaniel. have you driven one yet?
I like the antithesis approach. But it sounds like your 7 isn't driving right now. So this is really your only car.
Too bad you're soured on subies, the wrx is a champ.
I've been out test-driving a lot lately, and think that a Miata is a pretty good thing, especially if you hate hauling people around.
The gti works too, though I thought the 1.8T lagged a bit, but you turbo owners are used to that. I didn't drive that model, rather the Passat with the 1.8T, or maybe is was the Jetta, one of the sedans. 1 had the V6, the other the 1.8T. I liked the 6 better. Hated the ergonomics, so forgot it immediately. My friend though loved it.
There are a pantheon of used BMW's in that price range, all of which make incredible daily use cars. They just plug into the right senses. I just drove a 330C? that was stickered at 25K. It was two door, 35000 miles, a 2000 I think. You could probably get an older m3.

Yes, RSX but yeah I used to own an RS and I could drift with them and I had it easily pumped to about 200 hp which isn't bad. Ummm.....what else.....IMPORT A SKYLINE man, those things are beasts and they have to be fun to drive with all that damn power. On the other hand I doubt you have the money, or anyone really....hmmmm......SE-R's are completely underpowered and yes you could always go with a tank like my parents did, a CRV. Lets see you get that thing sideways!!!!! But seriously go with the new Focus, suppose to be as good as the RSX but cheaper. Have fun and get something that applies to your tastes

How much lag could there possibly be? I've ridden in one a few times and the only thing that makes power quicker is just brute displacement.
Now, the WRX, that thing had lag.

I think it went this way. 1.8T in a passat, drove the circuit. Got in the v6 Jetta, drove around the circuit.
The Jetta is lighter, yes. Smaller overall, so all things aren't equal. But the 6 was much better to drive. Had better low end, and just as much in the high (or so it felt). I'm using the old buttometer here, the fun to drive factor, and the 6 was more fun to drive, for me.
The passat had an autostick, too, which though fun to play with, I really didn't dig. Better than a straight automatic though.
I drove the wrx about 2 months after, but it felt faster, more smooth, throughout the whole range than either of the volks. I found the ergonomics Honda bland in the wrx, though.

hehe looks like its time for you to test drive cars
go grab a budy and test drive anything that even remotely grabs your interest. thats what me and a friend did when he was looking for a new car awhile back....wrx, celica gts, is300, eclipse, and some others.
even if you dont want one its nice to see what the competition is like, thats way you can make a more informed decision.
as for me buying a new car, ill be waiting for the Lan Evo VII in spring 2003....drool

Thanks for all the suggestions *wearing out carpoint lately* I am thinking of testing out the GTI, Tiberon and Acura. Problem is its gonna almost have to be a new car or I will lose several K on my impreza which on a new one I would lose only about 1k which isn't to bad. I already have 22k miles on the damn thing. I drive for work alot which is a pain in the ***. I wouldn't mind a WRX 2 door at all the 4dr was a fun test drive but not my thing. The TII needs about 3 more grand worth of **** before back on the road about 1 more month of paychecks should do it just fine. So early summer lauch date of it then my luck the engine will pop.....lol

Hands down acura RSX if you want a 2 door.
if you dont mind a 4 door, the WRX is nice.
Also, used may not be a bad option. 25k would buy a 99/00 BMW 3 series coupe that would blow away the rsx.

pick up a new issue of car and driver. The RSX kills the celica, eclipse (yawn) and tibruon.
They are faster than a Turbo II, with 0-60 in low 6 seconds.

I guess I forgot to mention ....no RWD cars due to the fact that I live in the WV mountains....great fun driving roads in the summer in my TII but damn rough in the winters....so RWD is out...

Alot of people are making some crazy choices........It looks to me like you have 3 choices.......Toyota Celica or Acura RSX or Honda Civic SI. Common features: FWD, Great gas mileage, 2 doors, hatch back, great handling priced at or below $25,000..
The Sentra SE-R.....this car is sad. I don't care if its quick, its junk. It is very CHEAP and i dont mean its price. The original SE-R from 1991-1994 was awesome, but not this one.
