my g/f can't go beyond secind in my car and only one other person is authorized to use my FC and that is my friend for over 9 years(considering i am 18). Not to mention only one other person in my family would know how to drive stick. But I want the sliders. what I wanted to know is if the cobras had the brakes like the other ones. let me get you all a link.

the brackets are for Cobreau seats and are like 70 with the puchase of a seat. 70 is for one bracket. without buying a seat they are like 130

What specifically is wrong with the DAD seats? I've been kind of eyeing those too. Have heard several good things prior to this thread and haven't really heard anything specific here other than they are "cheapo".

And for a reclining seat, they are probably $200-$300+ less than anyone else...

i've been looking at the dad seats too, and i've heard theyre really good copies of the sparco torinos, but would like to hear some first hand accounts of how they compare. anyone have them? my brother has the torinos and they are the best seats ive ever sat in other than recaro srd's (thats saying alot)

Yo,

Basically you want the seats to be "FIA" approved. It's some racing sactioning body. Sparco, Momo, Recaro, etc. are all FIA approved. I don't think the knockoff seats are approved and will probably not do well in an accident.

You have to ask yourself how much is your life worth in an accident. If you get rear ended and your $200 seat sheers in half and you get bent over backwards over frayed fiberglass shards...it wasn't a good investment. I would save your money until you could get a reputable and safe seat from known manufacturers: MOMO, Sparco, Corbeu, Recaro.

I think you can get Recaro SRD seats for about $400 each and they are awesome.

Just my 2c.

I agree you do get what you pay for. And as for the Corbeu and the Cobras do seem very nice and are FIA approved.

Having sat in and owning both. (the cobra's are soon to be mine... well one of them is most definately mine and the other is questionable)

I'd definately feel safe in an accident in either seat. I personally think the cobra's are better although they do weigh a bit more for the added protection and comfort.

Sparco makes a good FG seat that costs about 350 and weighs in at 12lbs. I'd get one of those if I had the cash.

FIA approval is the only way to go. I was going to make my own CF seats for a class I was taking and my instructor convinced me not to do it for safety reasons. If you get some cheap *** knock offs and someone gets hurt from your install job you are laible. Thats not a position I want to be in personally.

Using mild steel bar stock it is very easy to adapt the mounting points on the bottom of the seats to the stock sliders. Or, You can make new brackets entirely for pretty cheap. The seat manufacturer specific sliders are expensive because they have to make and stock a zillion different brackets, and do the R&D for all those cars to ensure they fit. If there is enough interest I will make a template or produce an adaptor for the cobra's when I get them. Let me know who'd want something like that.

i'd just thought i'd jump in to say it is very unsafe to use a harness w/o rollcage. if you flip and the roof comes down on you, it will either crush your skull and put your spinal cord through the bottom of the seat or snap your neck as you body has nowhere to go. thus being a big no no.

Turns out that I've been sold out on my cobra's.... Just had lunch with my buddy and he has someone giving him cash for the pair tonight. The 200 he's paying me is going into a sparco ultra.

there should also be a local shop that will weld in cages but you will need to strip carpeting etc out for them to do it. apparently sparking from the welder and carpeting don't get along too well.
