cutting the RB springs ?

I have them but the drop is pathetic. I want a 1.5-1.75 inch drop but RB is 1 barely. Im wondering if I can cut the springs another 3/4 without any ill effect in handling? I dont want shocks right now nor can I afford them because im moving out!

go ahead and cut them. that will get you what you want. you'll just bounce around a little more, but i'm sure you won't mind.

You could cut them being that they are linear rate bounciness is going to not be an issue.... but i am totally against cut springs

Dont **** up a perfectly good set of springs with your ricer mod. Sell them, and buy Intrax lowering springs. They offer a decent drop of atleasy 1.5 inches, though I thought it was more like 1.75.

I wouldn't do it either, just hold out and buy some coilovers later on. I'm kinda surprised that you bought the springs for the drop (or is that just your current mood?), I thought everyone knew that those sprins aren't "lowering springs" like the ones everyone buys for Civics and the like? C'mon man just hold out a while and do it the right way .

if your going to cut them use a cutting disc or die grinder, i agree there not low enough, i have the eibach springs and they still sit pretty high. a hacksaw wont work and dont use a torch it changes the tensile strength of the metal and changes the springs rate where it got hot. dont go more than an inch though with cutting them, you might need camber plates, you definatly need new shocks, ya shocks are the expensive part. your stock ones will be fubar

But im doing less than an inch. lke 3.4 plus. I bought them because I got them for only 120. I will fix the shocks when they brake and coilovers I hear need modifying or something.

ANYONE? How can I adjust camber without buying the Camber adjuster?

If you got them for $120 why not sell them for $150 and make a profit if you dont like them??

Frist of all. if you put lowering spring on stock shock, you stupid! they are not valved properly for a lower ride.

Sell you spring's, or sack up and spend $200 bucks and buy a set that is lower!

If you cut your spring! I recomend you buy some windshield washer lights and some blinky valve stem caps for your wheels.

you might bottom out more often if you cut the springs cuz you wont have the right rate to prevent you from hitting the ground. just get those ground controls or somthing

IT will look good and perform hell of alot better than stock. Pluss I can buy shocks when I need them. I put 50 miles a month on my rx7 just to take it to the track and show. Rice nothing punk!!! I can do what I want and I make 400/w part time with no bilz so I can take the best pair of shocks and stick them up your *** but Im saving money right now. C..ya tec and thnx everyone else

pick up the new car craft it has suspension stuff and tells you the correct way to cut springs, i really thought cutting springs was bad, but if you do it right your ok, like not getting crazy with the drop just less than inch and you wont have anyproblems

there is nothing wrong with cutting springs if you know what you're doing. springs are springs. all you need is the right thickness and length. that's it. you don't need coilovers and all that ****. cutting his springs aren't going to hurt a thing. plus the springs will get slightly stiffer.

Tec
shock valving has nothing to do with ride height. are you talking about stroke??? you must be.

yeah, i got rice. take it in ya mouth. edud yag

I was in your case and I cut my springs. I had Linear Suspenion Technique springs and I cut two coils of each springs.. My advice is to not do it. Because the ride gets very uncorfatable, yur shock will hit the bumpstop alot.

You mentioned that you won't be able to tell a difference, you are wrong. I autocros my car and circuit raced them with the cut springs. It was better then stock but the turn in in slaloms for the cut springs are worst and very unpredictable. As well with the cut springs you will have alot of problems everytime your cars i on the hoist because when you lower teh car you will need to realign each spring so it sits on the shock perch.

I now have a full coilover system from K2RD and I love them. My Slalom times and circuit times have been dropped because I feel more confortable with the current setup.

Red face

why in the world would you cut an aftermarket spring? Aren't they designed to be that length and at that strength. It like when your doctor told you to take only a pil a day for seven days; but you want faster result s oyou take all seven in one day-then you wonder how you died.

All springs, aftermarket and OEM, were designed to be the length and strength they are. But you can modify them to be different. When you have the money, you can go out and buy what you want. But when you don't, and you have more time than money, you can use your time to find some other way to Skin That Cat.

Kind of like when the doctor says, "Take two Aspirin and call me in the morning." But you're scared to take Bayer because you don't know that that is aspirin.

Hey von, do you plan on buying any springs and shocks later since you only drive the car a little a month? Also why don't you put them up on eBay and see what happens?
