cutting edge exhaust system? zero emissions/deep purr?

need to replace my entire exhaust system from end to end asap but have to do research first

ideally i want something that is 21st century brand new and will make my car the cleanest thing on the road and boost my MPG by like 102981 miles per gallon

actually looking for any mods that will do that + boost performance ie: water catalyzers and hybrid technology etc etc

but for right now i just need to replace the ENTIRE exhaust system since a flood and my drive shaft ate mine.

also need to know what kind of manpower is involved since i'm pretty sure the entire system just hinges on but i'm not positive about the connections

i need new super duper clean catalytic converter to pull all the nasty out + two new mufflers

and want it to sound pretty much how it does now and not like some retarded glassback or make my car sound like a motorcycle etc. like the deep low purr.

89 coupe non-turbo automatic + alarm rear wiper dual exhaust etc

if you want something that burns "super duper clean"...why do you have a Rotary?

I think the stock setup with a new cat is probably the cleanest thing you'll find... With a bigger exhaust you lose efficiency- you cant really aim for both power and efficiency on the same car. (not completely true but I'm trying to make a point...) And a cleaner burning cat will be more restrictive than a high-flow one. If you wanted to you could probably have a new exhaust made with a new cat and mufflers at a muffler shop.

Super duper clean + more MPG = Hybrid

Trade in your seven and get one of those...

yeah the deepest tones yoru gonna get will come from the stock exhaust, or maybe racing beat, everything else is pretty loud, as for emissions, get a different car, rotaries always run rich and stinky and you'll find nothing cutting edge for this car it's 20 years old

looks like someone needs a hybrid honda. You want 21st century technology for a 20th century car?

I say we make this the thread of the month!!!!

No way, after going from stock to Apexi N1 to Racing Beat I can say The N1 was the deepest exhaust of those 3 bellow 3K RPM. Then after that it had the high pitch scream. Racing Beat sounds pretty much like stock, just a little louder and a bit deeper.

Yep, the Apex N1 is nice and deep at idle and sounds more like a motorcycle at high-rpms (espcially under bridges ).
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/6...58001f0db8.htm (you need good bass for it to sound right)
If you want it to be relatively clean burning then get the racing beat header and the bonez high-flow cat sold at www.rx7.com. They have one that mates up to the RB header. For aftermarket catbacks, they are all basically the same for gains so go for the sound you like. You can find clips in various places.

how many of you are running headers with the N1s? If you really don't think it's LOUD then you've already caused ear damage. 20 minutes into our trip we had to get earplugs on the straight piped N1 dual NA.

if you want loud 24/7, in any gear, at any RPM then go open cans.

if you want beefy at anything below 4000RPM and sexy at WOT then go Racing Beat.

I've actually got a Dynomax exhaust sitting in my garage collecting cobwebs that I want to put on. Whenever I get around to that (at least 2 more weeks) I'll post a vid of it.

LMAO
see this is the kind of problem i want to avoid

i was just wondering if anyone made anything like the DYSON vacuums that have super tornado power because all the curves and air flow is done properly, such that a catalytic converter could have far more surface area for trapping particles + increased air flow so it's not putting back pressure on the rest of the system

that and i have no clue how backpressure actually affects things so just trying to get an idea

not sure if you could buy any catalytic converter from any car as long as you did some kind of mod or something either, just testing the water to get an idea what to expect

good info so far, not much on actual installation issues though? welding? i really don't want to have to have someone weld it else the price goes way up and shipping costs are already going to SUCK.

Hey! Mine did really well on the smog test. Less than half of the average. And it gets 27mpg freeway, btw.

In the earlier days of the rotary, Mazda made a low emissions bus using the rotary engine. I've also seen one of their old rotary pickup ads: "The pickup with pickup... and since it has a rotary engine, you know it will be fuel efficient." If you ask the old folks they'll tell you the same. "Your car has a rotary engine? Those are really clean and fuel efficient." As the auto industry continued devolopment, Mazda couldn't quite keep up with piston engines due to the inherant limitations of the rotary engine. Mazda kept pointing out that the rotary still got better mpg than the V8, but to no avail. The rotary declined for a while before returning in sports car form.

In truth, the rotary's emissions and mpg drawbacks compared to the piston are minor. The fact that it has been a dedicated sports car engine for over two decades hasn't helped, though.

Original poster: I'd just get a Bonez cat and any mufflers with the sound you want. Keep your car well maintained and use good quality gas. Your emissions won't be stellar, but they'll be alright. Installing an exhaust is pretty easy. Just unbolt the old one and bolt-in the new one. But if your old one is all rusted up, it could become a real headache trying to get by all that rust. You'll have to use a lot of force, possibly removing the exhaust in ways contrary to what the original engineers intended (i.e., breaking stuff).

A catalytic converter is not an exhaust filter it's a... converter. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/catalytic-converter.htm

..Search: BONEZ HI-FLO CAT...They are Great for the Rotary engine. If you think that the stock Catalytic Will not Suffice. You could always go a "little Bigger" and get a Catalytic for a V-8.You will need one that has a Split air Tube(little tube on the side of the Catalytic).a bit Of modification will most likely Need to be done to hook up the Air tube(Welding the Old flange onto the New cat so you can attach the Tube).Unless the new cat has the same Small tube flange that the Rx7 uses.
