Custom Intake heat shield

Anybody ever made on of their own before for an FC.

I made one before for my 240sx a year back but I didnt have a clue back then as to what materials are used.

I know I have to seal the bottom and the hood part with some kind of rubber door jam seal or something similiar, but that about the box. What is good at reflecting heat to either coat it or wrap it.
The box, I was thinking of plastic, or styrofoam which I used in my 240 before.

I fabbed mine from aluminum roof flashing. It's thin and easy to cut, but firm enough to hold shape. Then I covered it in sound/heat insulation I bought from the black dragon. Attached the insulation with aluminum tape. Buy the flashing and aluminum tape from Home Depot.

This setup will help a little, but you still need a source of outside air to reduce the temp of the input air from that of the engine bay.

yea, I was thkning somewhere from under the headlight, or use the stop air panel thats on top the radiator shroud to direct air into the heatshield.

See the engine bay pic in the link in my sig. The heat shield is made from aluminium sheet with foil-faced insulation stuck to the back. There's a strip of ~2" wide foam stuck to the underside of the hood to completely seal it at the top. I cut some decent sized holes in the body to let outside air in.

I was thinking of making one that bolted between the LIM and the engine, and folded over the top of th engine to help with intake mani heat soak. Not sure if it would work though. I was also going to make another heat shield for the manifold or header if I got one
