custom exhaust

Im struggling finding a shop in my area to do what I want. I have the rb headers and some apexi mufflers but no shop wants to eliminate my catalyct converters. Then I found a shop that might do it for me but they wont install the headers. Is that something I could pull off doing myself? I hate getting under cars this sucks. Even if I get them on I think id be screw cause I got the headers with the dual outlet so Id have to ride to the shop with the rest of the exhaust disconnected. What should I do?

Did they give you a reason for not wanting to install the header?

Also I doubt any shop will actually eliminate the cats.. The most they're allowed to do is replace it with a "superior" [inferior] aftermarket single cat, and even that's iffy.. Legally you can't remove any working emissions equipment [it's ~ a $1000 fine to take the cat[s] off]

Get a shop to put the header on [this will necessitate removing the precats though] and then ask them to build you an eliminator pipe "for track days"..

Easiest solution? Get a collected [single outlet] RB header, and an RB presilencer. These will bolt up directly to the stock Y-pipe's input location. I'm assuming your Apexi mufflers either go to that location or to the output of the Y-pipe. Should all bolt up nicely. ^_^ [Remember to use Ultra Copper RTV Silicon on all the gaskets when you're putting it together]

The Dual "Road Race" header has flanges that most shops just won't have.
So you're going to have to find, and wait on the flanges..
or they can cut them and weld straight onto your header.

Bring them the headers, and tell them you want them to build an exhaust from behind them,
and get a quote.

Remember, cat elimination is illegal, in FL it is about a (last I checked) 10k dollar fine if the shop is caught.. so you can do one of two things
1. have them cut out the cat and weld flanges, making it removable, and asking to have a pipe made for "track runs"
2. shout "look over there" when they remove your cat, run up, and beat the packing out of it before they turn around.

Also, one last note,
you aren't "Screwed" because you bought the wrong thing, RB stuff tends to sell well around this forum, so you can always sell it, buy the stock header (or atleast a single outlet one) and then get it fabbed up.

Why are you eliminating the cats?
(edit)

+1 to Derekcat for some reason this took forever for my computer to post

Thanks for all the info guys, Im taking all this in. I just figured that having dual exhaust would give me the most power and Im trying to be cheap by not buying the complete exhaust at once. I like the idea of being able to unbolt the cat and put the custom pipe on. Idk Im gonna take a day or 2 and read some more about it. And if i had them cut out the cats and put the flanges on, how many would i need? 4?
