custom coolant/radiator plans, questions.

I'm swapping a 91 N/A 13b into my miata, and obviously it'd be a good idea to upgrade the cooling at the same time. I'm going to get an aluminum radiator that fits a miata, then hook it up to the 13b. the only issue is that because of the engine bay layout, the radiator will be really far from the engine. I think the best solution is just to weld on some 16 -AN fittings on the radiator and water pump housing and run stainless lines.

However, the top coolant neck on a 13b that goes over the thermostat (the thermostat fits between the coolant neck and water pump housing, right? the engine I rebuilt didn't come with one so i'm not 100%) is made of plastic. am I going to have to fab something up, or did a different generation of rx7 come with an aluminum one that would fit?

thanks.

yes thermostat is between neck and pump. s4 pump housings are all aluminum but you need to use an s4 water pump.

well I guess I need one of those then. just to clarify though, an s4 coolant neck won't fit on an s5 pump housing?

No, it won't.
The plastic S5 thermostat housing has a three bolt mounting flange, the S4 unit has two bolts.
You could make an adaptor, not sure it's worth the effort.
