Curious about OMP/MOP
Just curious... on an s5, if the OMP goes bad, it trips an ecu code, right? limp mode?
Are there any circumstances where the OMP may be not functioning, yet not trip the ECU codes?
Reason I'm asking is based on the reply, i think i will run some premix as a precaution (like 200:1), just in case.
I'm down to the first hash mark beside the "LOW" on the oil dipstick, and I THINK i started off with "FULL" @ oil change about 1500 miles ago. (1 gallon jug of oil)

Yes, in theory the MOP could be bad but not tripping a code. If the actual piston pump inside has failed (not likely) then it wouldn't trip a code. Other circumstances could be that the oil lines are plugged or broken, or the oil dribblers (injectors) could be clogged (very common).
There is a test procedure in the Haynes manual for both the metering oil pump, and the oil dribblers.
