Curing what ails my 7 with a AFM

I recently posted a problem i had with my 7 having a rough idle and not getting above 2000 rpm when driving. The consensus was that he AFM needed replacing. Well I got one on ebay (for a relatively dirt cheap price I might add) and I was wondering if it matters that i have my fuel pump independently wired to a toggle switch inside my car?

It shouild not matter if the fuel pump is activated from some place other than the afm or the key being held to Start.

Yes......it idles and revs fine in park.........but when in gear it sputters and spits and will die when i give it gas or either when it has to do some pulling..........(ie going up a hill)
