How would one go about quieting down the CS turbo back exhaust? I love the performance of it....but it will get me many many tickets, any easy solutions out there?

Either put a silencer in the muffler (kills power and sounds like ****) or add another muffler as a "presilencer". A lot of people seem to add a second muffler in the midpipe.

I am having a similiar issue, love the performance and sound, but ranks high on the cop-o-meter of fun. i am probably gonna have a borla xr1 stainless added somewhere in there. you can get one from summitracing.com for little less then $150, should do the trick.

Racing Beat TurboII 3" presilencer. I have it with the CS cat-back, sounds wonderful.

cool....i was thinking about it too....it's LOUD and even though cops here are chill about it I still feel bad for the neighbors.

EDIT: I found the 2.5" pre-silencer .....

So does the RB 3" Presilencer bolt straight in where the corksport midpipe is then? Or do you have to have it cut and welded in somewhere?

I really doubt it. The straight pipe section of the CS exhaust is the same length as the stock main cat, 17.5", but RB's presilencers are made for their exhaust systems and are not usually the stock cat length. The presilencer I had on my n/a was 20" long, but if you email or call RB and ask them the length that'd be an easy way to find out.

Hmmm....interesting. On RB's website it says the presilencer is 20", so that wouldn't quite work out....Impulsive, you say you have it with the catback? where did you have it put in? Because i have CS's full Turbo-Back exhaust. I'm looking for the most efficient and nondescript place of putting it in....Anyway, thanks for all the input guys.

Mine is bolted right up, nothing is cut and welded.... RB 3in downpipe>RB 3in presilencer>CS cat-back.

Here's the one I'm talking about----> http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....tnumber=16425p

Because you have their downpipe... that's what he meant by not matching up, of course it will bolt up to any catback because you can bolt the RB catback up to a stock cat... but you can't bolt a stock cat up to an RB downpipe... you have to buy one of their high flow cats if you want to have a cat... otherwise you get their presilencer.

The RB website doesn't say how long that one is^^^^

That exhaust was on the car when I bought it, I'm so confused now.

EDIT: Oh ok, that makes sense now, thanks Bob.

Yeah. For clarification, I have Corksports complete 80mm Turbo-back exhaust. I bought a borla xr1 muffler, and I'm not sure if it will fit in where my midpipe is, and a guy at my work recommended looking into the RB presilencers.

So, if anyone has any other input pls lemme know. Thanks

I have a borla xr-1 cut to the same length as the stock cat location, just take the borla to a muffler shop and have them put it in at the correct length and flanges and all.

Well I have tried that, and I've had muffler shops tell me that they can't put it in there. Reason being.....only a cat can go in that spot on the car

I went to muffler king (here in WA) and told them it was for "off-road use only" on track days

They laughed and proceeded to doing it for me and said "yah as long as it's off-road only "

haha, nice....there is a custom welder just down the road from me and I was thinking of taking my midpipe section off the car, taking that down there with the muffler and seein if he'd chop and weld it for me....of course making sure the length stays the same and everything.

A friend of mine with an 87 TII bought the CS single, and yes, they are loud. He installed the Borla, and it makes a world of difference. Very sweet sound and not too loud. I don't remember if he had to make any modifications in length or not.

The Borla would be my choice.
