Cruise Control ON TII Conversion

Hey has anyone ever done a TII conversion on a car that had cruise control and if so has anyone gotten it to hook up to the throttle body? My cable is to short to reach the Throttle body. Help me out here. Thanks.

You can't use a NA cruise on a turbo motor. The NA runs on vacuum, boost from the turbo will will play hell with it, the turbo cruise uses an electric motor. You will also need the turbo cruise control computer to run it.

IN my experience either cruise computer will operate either cruise actuator.

Due respect to Rotary Resurrection (he has a GREAT web site by the way), I beg to differ. Hailers can back me up on this one.

The TII electric actuator will not work with a NA cruise computer based on actual experience. I put a TII actuator in my Turbo Vert, and the cruise wouldn't engage at all. At the time Hailers sang the same tune as Rotary Resurrection.

When I pulled the cruise computer from my TII parts car and installed into my Turbo Vert, the cruise then worked fine. Hailers checked, and in fact the part numbers are indeed different for the NA and TII cruise computer.

Sure, the part numbers are different, but either will operate either actuator. You can take a stock NA and bolt on a turbo actuator and it will work the same. When I had my turbo convertible, it kept the stock convertible NA cruise computer, but ran the turbo cruise actuator with no problems in the 3 years I had it.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, i never thought about the boost issue on a vacuum servo. Now i understand why turbo cars have an electric servo/accuator. I will try and find a turbo one.

The BOOST issue is all smoke, mirrors myth and bullshit. I drove thousnads of miles on a na converted to turbo using the stock vacuum assisted cruise control and it never gave me any heartburn whatsoever.

The ONLY reason I put a turbo elect actuator in that car is because I got it free and the electric actuator is quicker to respond and hold a speed than the vacuum assisted one.

No I have not. You hit the nail on the head. WHY WOULD YOU???????

You put the car in cruise, because your cruising. Cruising, as in a steady seventy mph or whatever. If you have to pass a car, you step on the pedal and when you do that you override the cruise as with most cars. Once you pass the car ahead you do what??? You put the lever to RESUME as you would in MOST other cars.

Maybe, just maybe, if you lived in Colorado or in the hill country of NZ, you would probably have a problem going up steep grades. In Tx we have the *Hill Country* around Austin, and trust me, when they say HILL, it's just a bump in the road, not a mountain.

If you live in Tn, you cannot cruise on the interstate without going into boost at times. There are 6 and 8% grades around here.

If there is no need for the turbo to use an electric motor instead of a vacuum assist, why did they go to the expense of making one? You must know it wasn't cheap. I suppose next you are going to tell me that a blow off valve is also unnecessary, and mazda put it there to make the car sound cool when you shift.

Sounds to me like RR has a very WEAK rebuilt engine. Maybe you need to change rebuild mechanics so you don't have to boost to get over those ridges in the road down in Tn.

You're a damned idiot for coming at me like that. You might be handy with a voltmeter but I dont think you know as much as you think you do. You just tinker and post your results here, without trying them on hundreds of cars, like I have.

I've never heard of your successes putting a motor together, so keep my name out of your mouth until you have something to back it up with.

well, not really. have you not driven like 6 hours on a long, straight, boring highway? cruise control is a godsend on trips like that.

and coldfire I have driven 6 hour trips and 4 hour trips. I find it easier to not use cruise control because of traffic and cops. Everyweekend I drive 3 hours home and then 3 hours back on sunday.

As Elmer Fudd would say, "Silly wabbit, Cruise Control is for Cruz'n". I cannot imagine a long drive, such as driving to Vegas, without cruise control to ease fatigue.

why would you drive long **** trips on a rx7?? if its ur only car then id understand but if its ur 2nd car, the more miles u put on the car, the sooner rebuild day will come.
