Cruise control question. (first of its type w/ pics)

Hey guys, I'm in the process of doing the five speed swap on my GTU, well the car apparently had an aftermarket cruise control unit installed on it that ive never seen or heard of before.

Judging by How To Add Cruise Control aaroncakes website, the components for a factory cruise in the engine bay should be on the passengers side. however, these were all on the drivers side, and all went through the hole in the firewall where the clutch master should be. Obviously this wont do, so i removed the system.

My question is, can you confirm or deny that this is not the factory cruise control components? (it doesn't have the switch on the cluster surround, but im just trying to cover my bases here)

And that that is not the factory mounting points.

Three, I found an empty plug under my drivers side kick panel, can someone confirm where that plug goes to? I believe its where the factory cruise computer would plug in.

Pics attached!

Circled in green, those were the components i removed, they had a logo of some private cruise system company. Those are not where factory components mount are they?

The "wiring side' taken out of the car.

This plug is down by my drivers side kick panel, am i right in assuming this is for the actual factory system?

yep, not a factory system. pic is from the parts catalog.

the turbo has an electric cruise control actuator, as it sees boost, so a vacuum operated one won't work

You would be better off with supplying at least one row of wire colors in the plug as that would make it easier to identify by just comparing the wire colors to the colors provided in the wiring diagram.

Also, look over by the charcoal canister and you should find the unused plug for the factory actuator.
It may still be taped to the harness if cruise was never installed.

Updated pics of the plug in the drivers kick panel, its right around near the area where the CPU would be which from what ive been told would be right near where the cruise control cpu would me.

Sooo any friendly advice on where this plug belongs to =D I'd appreciate it highly!

Taking off that aftermarket cruise control system was a royal pain. However, I went to test fit the master cylinder, and it doesnt seem like it wants to slide in all the way and sit 100% flush...

lower right stud seems like its getting caught on something.

should i try just threading the nuts in on the inside of the car and coercing it?

Edit: tried another master cylinder, fit absolutely perfectly. Apparently the one I ordered was/is defective. that makes a fuel pump for a SI rx8, a clutch alignment tool, and now a master cylinder that have all been bad from rock auto...dammit guys =/ I love giving them my money but I think some of their suppliers just have shitty quality control.

probably just a stud that didn't sit straight, sometimes i have to draw them in with the nuts.

I was considering doing that, but i'd be worried about damaging the metal on the firewall?

I mean the one I have used sits perfectly flush, so its not a big deal, but the one that doesnt is brand new so id obviously like to use that one instead, But like I said i'd be worried about damaging the metal on the firewall by using the nut to force it into place. Has that ever happened to you or have you heard of that happening?

I just dont want to complicate the five speed swap anymore lol.

It's a 30 year old car, drawing the MC through with the nuts is not going to damage anything more than age has already done. Unless it's a serious clearance issue, do it and be done.

never had an issue with it damaging anything, but it shouldn't require much to draw through

that bottom right stud has about slightly more than 1/4" gap between the firewall if I had to guess...So what I'm trying to figure out is, what constitutes a serious clearance risk.
