Cruise control different on s4 and s5?
I was looking in the FSM to make sure on the placement of the cruise computer, and it looks like its on a different side from the writeup on arron cakes site. I also saw something on a thread that made it sound like they the switch operated differently. I wondering because my car is an s4 and I got the cruise parts from an s5.
as far as i have found it should work fine, as long as all parts are one series or the other, the major difference is how the wiring goes into the switch on the dash. do you have all the parts? i found out the hard way you need more switches on the clutch and brake. two each if i remember right. hope this helps

thats what i thought to, but the clutch needs two switches and the brake needs two switches. because i have a s5 with computer and controller from a turbo ii and switch, but i get nothing, it wil not turn on. when i have asked around on the forum thats what i have been told, if i am wrong show me the link or write up, so i can troubleshoot my system out

Well, the writeup I followed is here: http://aaroncake.net/RX-7/cruise.htm. I thought that the brake and clutch sensors were the ones that were already in the car, but I could be wrong. I dont expect my car to be running for another 2 months at least, so I won't be able to tell you either way for a while
thats what i thought was true to, but i found you need a second sensor on both the clutch and brake, this sends the info to the cruise computer, the other ones go to the main ecu, seems dumb, but thats how it works.
how hard is it to hold ur foot on the gas, me and my friend went to cali from indy, he drove his grand prix, and i drove my car. mine doesnt work, his does. he wrecked falling asleep with cruise control. i didnt.

A S5 cruise control unit will not fit the S4 plug. PERIOD. LOOK at the two wiring schematics and the arrangement of the cruise control unit plug. They don't match. Not even close.
A S5 cruise switch will not work on a S4 UNLESS you repin the plug to the switch. PERIOD
The two switches on the clutch and brake have NOTHING to do with engaging the curise. The are there to disarm the cruise. LOOK at the wiring diagrams, please. I drove for years without the clutch switch. Just don't dump the clutch while in cruise.
A S5 switch in a S4 REQUIRES the button be depressed all the time. I did this with a piece of tie wrap jammed in the switch for years. Treeshade jury rigging at it's best.
Repinning the cruise switch is a snap with a digital meter and a wiring diagram. LOOK at the diagram. What happens when you go to coast, resume, set or Main? You put a ground on a given pin on the cruise control unit. Now how hard is it to figure that out. Yes. No time at all.
