Crashed, now doing transplant

Alright gang, here's the deal... I wrecked my rx-7. I t-boned some ****** that turned infront of me at an intersection. The light was yellow, I went through, and some guy, who was in the turn lane, decided to go, and I slammed him in his passanger side.. some piece of **** first gen Celica... I obliterated his car too. My rex was pretty banged up. All in all, there was this guy, I don't know WHERE in the hell he was, said the light was red when I went through, so I got cited. 80 bucks for running a red. And I didn't have full coverage on my 7 either, so no money for it. So... she's now sitting outside. But get this guys. My father got word out in town that I lost my 7 and was in the market for another, and word got around, and we got another second gen. It's pre-'89, and there's some bad news... No title.. no key... it's abandonded. Evidently, it was at this old lady's house and used to belong to a guy she was providing board for, and he just flew the coupe one day, still owing rent to this lady, and left the car. It was unlocked and everything. So it sat around for a year. It's in kinda bad shape. no body damage, except for one dent in the front driver side fender panel. the paint is TERRIBLE, and without a key, we don't know if the engine works. It's also an automatic. We're supposed to get some guy to come out and make us a custom key, but I don't know when that's happening. Anyways. To make a long story short, My dad and I tried to turn on my engine just the other day, and it FIRED UP!! The engine is FINE! We were gonna part it out, but now that we know it all works, we're gonna do a swap. And I'm gonna swap over EVERYTHING!! I mean, the ENTIRE enterior, the engine, the tranny, the glass hatch, my sun roof (the one on there is nasty) the dash, the stereo, the driver side door (still in great shape), my taillights, my rims/tires, brakes, EVERYTHING. It's a huge project now, and I'm really excited about it. Big thing is, my father and I are doing the engine and tranny swap ourselves. That's gonna happen in the spring, and it should be very interesting, to say the least.. But that's what's going on. I'm really excited about it. It's a lot of fun. I've already started stripping down my old 7, and the new one we got. It's gonna be great. I'll give you guys more later on when I have the time. I gotta run. So, later on gang..

You may want to be sure you can get the title before you do the work. Otherwise, the guy who left it in theory could come back and just take it. Be sure to swap the locks too

Josepei in spades. My 87 turboii was a salvage vehicle that passed thru another persons hands prior to mine. I had a legitimate salvage title that was just botched up by the person that had the vehicle between me and the insurance company that totaled it. It drove me to the wall getting that title straightened out and put in my name. NEVER AGAIN. Get a good title first or at least get the process in work. Just think, if you have another accident, and your in that vehicle, the insurance company is going to check the vin numbers prior to settling any claims. But you know that. Have fun. Souds like a kick.

Take lots of pictures of b4, during and after. It'd make a nice RX-7 photo album.

update

Well, yeah, I don't plan on dropping the engine in there for a while. And I'll be sure to get that title asap. but all I'm doing right now is removing all the interior pieces in my '87. Right now I"m working on the sills (grey plastic ****) and carpet too.. It's pretty easy. I'm going bring over everything from my car. Seats, plastics, carpet.. one thing I can't figure out is how to get the DAMN DASH OFF! But i'll figure it out.. it's fun! But thanks for the feedback fellas.. OH! And great idea about the scrap book Jimmy! OH!! ****!! you're the guy I talked to over the phone the one day aren't you?! damn.. Okay, here's the thing for you. I didn't get a chance to hit you back because our comp blew up, and we were without internet for a while, and so we didn't have access to your number or any way of contacting you, so I didn't get a chance to tell you what happened with everything.. I'm sorry Jimmy. I just now realized that was you while I'm writing this. Sorry dude... But anyways.. I gotta get goin.. gotta go play hockey with Jason.. Later on gang.
